Surf Development Company Board of Directors consists of six community members from throughout the County of Santa Barbara (there is currently one vacancy on the Board).
BOARD PRESIDENT
Raymond F. Down has lived and worked in the Lompoc Valley for over 50 years. His entire career was in the Financial Services industry, primarily commercial banking. He and his wife Alice raised their family in Lompoc and have been involved with many community organizations. Ray has been involved with several City of Lompoc advisory commissions and has been and elected member of the Lompoc Hospital District’s Board of Trustees since 1973. Ray has been a member of the Surf Development Company Board since its inception in 1988.
BOARD VICE-PRESIDENT
Glenn Bacheller has lived in Santa Barbara County since 2008. Previously he was in business and was CEO or President of five companies. Since moving to the area he has been a volunteer for numerous non-profits, especially as a consultant. Homelessness has been his primary focus working on projects like a large non- profit’s fragile viability, warming centers, Safe Parking, a farm project to train and feed needy people and homeless prevention. He also founded a non-profit, Partners in Housing, that has helped house nearly 1,500 homeless people. He is on the county’s Community of Care board and has been a board member with Surf Development since 2019.
